150 years of Nikolsk-Bakhmetevsky crystal plant of Prince A.D.Obolensky. Historical sketch. SPB, 1914.

Excellently published (Type: Sirius) An essay published to commemorate the hundred-fiftieth anniversary from the day of construction of one of the oldest Russian crystal plants - Nikolsko-Bakhmetevsky. However, the Committee of the Congress of Glassworkers, which published this essay, was not limited only to  "Anniversary" edition and expanded the meaning of his book to the study of the whole development of glass in Russia. It should be noted that – except for the book published in 1856 by A. Chugunov  The "Study of Glass-Breaking Production", where there is a small historical reference, is the only more or less complete article on the history of glass-making in Russia available in the Vedomosti of the St. Petersburg City Administration, in No. 127 for 1874 and No. 148 for 1873. Thus, the publication we are reviewing contains experience in developing materials that are almost untouched.

The essay in its main part is divided into two independent departments - the history of the Bakhmetevsky plant and the history of glassmaking in Russia.

But the second part of the book, where extensive materials on the history of this industry are given in the extracts, seems especially important. Such extensive use by the Committee of the Congress of Glass Breeders of the Jubilee of the Bakhmetev Crystal Plant makes this publication an important contribution to the literature on the history of the Russian art industry.

The book is illustrated by an interestingly selected historical series of crystal bowls and glasses (21 tables), taken from the Bakhmetev factory museum of samples.
